Marty Young

“I prefer to paint living beings, either in a portrait or genre setting. I feel a personal connection with who or what I am painting and believe that emotional connection is evident in my art.”

About the Artist

Marty Young is a resident of Trumbull County, Ohio, where she has been selected to be in many juried shows such as the Butler Institute of American Art National Midyear Show and Area Artists Annual, the Trumbull Art Gallery Annual Area Artists, The Youngstown YWCA Women Artists Annual, Buhl Day Annual Exhibit, and Community Artworks juried shows and projects. Her work, “Our Local Heroes”, currently hangs in the Trumbull County Veterans Service Commission Office Lobby in Warren, Ohio. This work features 12 area veterans’portraits from all military branches and historical periods with brief biographies. Her work is also in the Eastwood Mall, Niles, Ohio as part of the Mona Lisa Community Artworks project. In 2017 her pastel, ”Winter Walk”, was chosen to be part of the Community Artworks juried show and calendar. Marty’s preferred mediums are oils and pastels with a particular emphasis on portraits (both human and pets!), genre paintings, and scenes that capture a moment in time. She also has done some work with musical themed paintings, such as instrument families, musicians, opera pigs, and a new venture in abstract style, “Appalachian Spring”.
